By eliminating Daylight Savings Time we comply with a citizen demand: PT
Mexico.- The vice-coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of the PT, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, affirmed that eliminating Summer Time meets one of the greatest demands of the people of Mexico.
He stressed that it is a popular cry to put an end to Daylight Savings Time, because there are no benefits and there are health effects.
“Human beings are not machines and every time an hour is advanced or delayed there is a mismatch for the organism. With these changes, enormous damage to health has been generated for decades, especially in Mexican children, ”he said in a statement.
He explained that the proposal of the President of the Republic contains precise studies that explain the damage to health, shows that there are no economic savings, so it is objectively proven that this change of schedule every six months does not make sense.
“There will come a time when a study of the damage of the use of face masks in minors is also carried out, because it damages their oxygenation and their lungs, it is necessary to stop this measure that was implemented due to the health emergency,” he asserted.
On his occasion, the vice-coordinator of the bench, deputy Benjamín Robles Montoya, assured that various surveys show that 70 percent of citizens reject this schedule, due to its disadvantages and health effects.
He added that the Federal Government also announced that, since 1996, Summer Time has barely contributed with 1 percent of annual energy savings, with respect to national consumption; therefore, the PT supports the presidential initiative.
“We are complying with the people of Mexico, because we do listen to them. With this reform we put an end to an exercise that has proven to be absurd, irrelevant and unnecessary, which has contributed nothing to our country in economic terms or in terms of energy savings, but which has caused inconvenience and damage to the health of people".
