The Government of Brazil created a working group between ministers and the Government of Amazonas, as well as allocated 28 million dollars for dredging works in the rivers due to the serious drought that currently affects most of the region considered “the lung of the planet.”

He noted that the Air Force will send supplies of water, food, medicine and other resources by air to the states of Amazonas and Acre.



According to the expert, this event is due to the El Niño phenomenon, which this year has had a greater impact than normal, mixed with changes in weather patterns caused by global warming.

The head of the sector warns that this drought "is incomparably stronger and could occur more frequently."
