Uruguay easily defeated a Chile 3-1 that is still very far from that red one that competed and ended up being two-time champions of America.

The Uruguayan light blue, led by Nicolás de la Cruz on a gala night, handcuffed those led by Eduardo Berizzo from the outset.

Marcelo Bielsa's pupils opened the scoring through De la Cruz who finished off a pass from striker Darwin Núñez on goal and then, at 45+2', the Argentine River Plate midfielder assisted captain Federico Valverde.

The third Uruguayan goal fell in the 71st minute through Nicolás de la Cruz himself and the Chilean discount came three minutes later scored by the experienced Arturo Vidal.

In the match that closed the first day, Brazil thrashed Bolivia in a clash that ended five goals to one.

Brazilian star Neymar and Real Madrid winger Rodrygo each scored a brace, while the other goal went to Barcelona winger Raphinha.

For Bolivia, the discount came from Víctor Abrego, who entered in the 71st minute for Marcelo Moreno and scored a great goal in the 78th minute.

The second day of the region's qualifier will be on September 12, in which Bolivia will host Argentina, Ecuador will host Uruguay, Venezuela will host Paraguay, Chile will host Colombia, and Peru will host Brazil.
