Biden calls ISIS leader in Syria “cowardly” for blowing himself up with his family: “He was a great terrorist threat to the world”

Before his trip to New York, President Joe Biden gave a message at the White House, where he highlighted the military operation that led to the death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshiwhom he criticized because “cowardly he blew himself up” along with his family, when he was surrounded in Syria.

“We know that when our troops closed in to capture the terrorist, in a final act of desperate cowardice, without regard to the lives of his own family, he chose to exploit himself,” the president said. “Instead of facing justice for the crimes he has committed.”

The president and Vice President Kamala Harris met this morning with the White House National Security Council counterterrorism team to closely monitor the operation in Syria.

President Biden said that while the military operation succeeded in taking down a top terrorist leader, it also sent a “strong message” to others like him.

“We will go after you and we will find you… We continue our relentless effort to keep the American people safe and to strengthen the security of our allies and partners around the world,” he said.
