Bayern Munich fires Oliver Kahn as CEO after controversy at the end of the season

Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga title on the last day after a 2-1 win over Koln and a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund. Despite adding their title number 11 in a row, the club decided to fire Oliver Kahn as CEO and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

The Bavarian team had several controversies during the campaign, including the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann, Manuel Neuer's injury after skiing, the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and that began with the departure of Robert Lewandowski.

The club's president, Herbert Hainer, and Kahn's successor as CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, appeared jointly before the press this Sunday to explain the decision to remove the dome.

Bayern continues to have people with football competence. Uli Hoeness remains on the Supervisory BoardNow Karlheinz Rummenigge will be back and above all we have Thomas Tuchel", he said, which may imply that the coach will have special power in the next transfer window.

One of the decisions communicated today was to appoint Rummenigge as a member of the Supervisory Board.

On Thursday, according to Hainer, he and Uli Hoeness had a conversation with Salihamidzic and Kahn in which a termination of their contracts was raised by mutual agreement.

“On Thursday we talked to them. With Hasan things worked out. With Oliver it was not so easy, he did not accept a termination of the contract by mutual agreement. On Friday we decided to terminate it. Because of that situation, it was not possible for him to go to Cologne (for the last game),” Hainer said.

On the absence of Kahn in Cologne there has been a battle on social networks. First it was said that he had not gone because of a cold but then Kahn said, via twitter, that the club had forbidden him to go.

The version of the cold circulated before the termination was known and Hainer said today that Kahn himself had sent them a message saying that he was in bed and had a cold.
“I am not going to comment on everything that Oliver now writes. But that's something I have on my mobile." Hainer said.
