Mexico City.- The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection of Mexico City (SGRIPC) reports that, in the afternoon, a fire was registered in an industrial warehouse of approximately 7,000 m², located in Calzada Coltongo corner Central Sur, Colonia Coltongo, in the Azcapotzalco Mayor’s Office.
Personnel from the Heroic Fire Department of Mexico City (HBC), elements from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Guard attended the scene.
At the moment, it continues with a fire load; Bicycle parts and accessories are burned, as well as stationery. Personnel from the Mexico City Water System (SACMEX) enabled two herons to supply the emergency units working on the fire.
As a security measure, 200 people were evacuated from nearby establishments; So far, no injuries have been reported.
In addition, support was requested from the neighboring municipalities with water pipes to help with the control and extinction of the fire; confirming the support: UGIRPC-AOB with two water pipes and UGIRPC-AZP with four water pipes.
As a collateral risk, adjacent to the fire is an industrial warehouse with wood in which HCB personnel work to prevent its spread.
The SGIRPC recommends that the population, in case of perceiving smoke in their home, close doors and windows, cover cracks with damp cloths and avoid the area.
Inter-institutional coordination is permanent in the fire of @AzcapotzalcoMx.
Work is being done to confine the flames, so no risk to the population and their property is reported.
