Aumentan casos de tosferina en Bolivia | Noticias

En Bolivia se registra una proliferaci贸n de casos de coqueluche. Una enfermedad respiratoria con elevados contagios diarios, lo que ha obligado a adoptar medidas de emergencia en el departamento de Santa Cruz, donde se han registrado ocho personas fallecidas por esta enfermedad prevenible mediante vacunaci贸n.

Los casos empezaron a registrase a finales del a帽o pasado, pero un s煤bito incremento encendi贸 alarmas debido al alto nivel de contagios en un solo d铆a.

La ministra boliviana de Salud, Mar铆a Ren茅e Castro, declar贸: 鈥淭enemos 596 casos que se han acumulado. Nos sorprende bastante lo que ha ocurrido el d铆a de ayer tenemos una notificaci贸n de que es el d铆a que m谩s casos de tosferina hemos tenido con 99 casos reportados鈥

鈥淒e los 99 casos reportados tenemos hasta los cinco a帽os de edad 21 personas y mayores de cinco a帽os 78 personas鈥 a帽adi贸.

La coqueluche o tosferina es una enfermedad respiratoria que inflama la traquea y los bronquios. Adem谩s, provoca tos violenta espasm贸dica con sensaci贸n de asfixia.

Como medida de emergencia se decidi贸 una vacunaci贸n acortada, que consiste en iniciar la vacunaci贸n de infantes antes de los periodos regulares y se har谩 rastreo de casos.

Los casos se concentran en el departamento de Santa Cruz, donde tambi茅n se confirm贸 un alto riesgo de contagios del propio personal de salud.

El gerente de epidemiologia servicio de salud, Carlos Hurtado, a帽adi贸 que 鈥渃oncluidas las pruebas que se le realiz贸 al personal de salud en el hospital del ni帽o, han salido 75 personas positivas a la enfermedad鈥

La coqueluche es prevenible mediante la vacuna pentavalente que cubre adem谩s, difteria, t茅tanos, influenza b y hepatitis pero los padres de familia no inmunizan sus hijos. En lo que va de ello se report贸 solo el 32 por ciento vacunado.

Santa Cruz este a帽o ha soportado dem谩s de la covid-19, epidemias de dengue e influenza.
