Audi will work with Sauber – Washington Hispanic

German carmaker Audi has chosen the Sauber Formula One team as its works team when it enters the series in 2026.

Sauber said in a statement that Audi also plans to take a stake in the Sauber Group, although no financial details or timetable were given.

It was not immediately clear whether Audi would run its own team or just supply the engines to Swiss-based Sauber.

“Becoming Audi’s official works team is not only an honor and a great responsibility,” said Sauber’s F1 team principal, “it is the best option for the future and we are convinced that we can help Audi achieve the goals he has set for his Formula One adventure.”

Sauber’s sponsorship deal with Alfa Romeo expires at the end of next season. The team sits sixth among the 10 constructors in the championship but is just one point clear of Aston Martin with just two races remaining.

Audi announced in August that it would enter F1 as an engine supplier in 2026, in accordance with new regulations, and was expected to team up with Sauber.

The Swiss team will continue to use Ferrari engines until 2025.
