At least three dead in shooting during motorcycle encounter in New Mexico
At least three people died and five were wounded in a shooting registered during a concentration of motorcyclists in Red River, a small town in the state of New Mexico (United States), according to the latest data provided by the State Police.
Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun told local media that the shooting was due to a confrontation between rival biker gangs and imposed a nightly curfew.
Without giving details of what happened on Saturday afternoon, the New Mexico State Police, which had previously reported two deaths and six injuries, raised the death toll to three early Sunday and said that five injured people are hospitalized.
Police have not yet reported arrests.

The New Mexico police force indicated that More officers have been dispatched to Red River to investigate the shooting. and asked people to refrain from traveling to that town of about 500 inhabitants, although security is no longer threatened, according to a message published in Twitter.
Eyewitnesses told the KOB 4 channel that after the shooting the police closed all the bars and restaurants on the main street of Red Rivera city near Albuquerque, and numerous first aid and police vehicles began arriving in the area.
One of the wounded was airlifted to a Denver hospital, in the neighboring state of Colorado.
The New Mexico hospitals where the wounded are admitted has been equipped with a security reinforcement, without specifying the reasons, according to the state police.
The annual Red River Memorial Motorcycle Rally, held for 41 years over the Memorial Day long weekend (last Monday in May), brings together thousands of motorcyclists in that mountain city.
"It's very tragic what happened. but the police performance has been incredible. The first officer of the State Police was there within 30 seconds,” Calhoun said.
