At least 34 dead and 14 injured in a road accident in Algeria | News
Algerian authorities reported Wednesday that at least 34 people died and 14 were injured as a result of an accident between a bus and a utility vehicle near Tamanrasset, in the south of the African nation.

The Algerian Civil Protection indicated that the fatalities died burned after a fire broke out due to the collision of the vehicles, reported around 04:15 (local time).
According to those who direct the tasks in response to the tragedy, "the process of extracting the victims trapped inside the bus" continues while the injured have been transferred to hospital facilities.

The bus involved in the accident that occurred in the Algerian Sahara, more than 1,500 kilometers from the capital, Algiers, was transporting passengers between the cities of Adrar and Tamanrasset.
The National Delegation for Road Safety has indicated in its respective reports that high speeds are the main cause of road accidents in Algeria.
According to the head of the government agency, Nacef Abdelhakim, during the past year 22,980 traffic accidents were reported, which left a balance of more than 3,400 deaths and 30,400 injuries.
