El candidato a la presidencia, conocido por su férreo anticorreísmo, ha fallecido tras ser tiroteado a la salida de un mítin en Quito

El asesinato del candidato a la Presidencia de Ecuador Fernando Villavicencio a manos presuntamente de sicarios tiñó el miércoles de sangre los comicios para elegir al sucesor del actual mandatario, el conservador Guillermo Lasso, en un atentado que dejó al menos nueve heridos y donde murió un sospechoso del crimen.

Villavicencio, de 59 años, un periodista y exasambleísta que con sus investigaciones sobre corrupción se había convertido en uno de los enemigos más acérrimos del expresidente Rafael Correa (2007-2017), recibió una ráfaga de disparos al terminar un mitin de su campaña electoral que realizaba en un colegio de Quito.
