Argentina donates one million vaccines against Covid-19 to Egypt | News

Egypt received one million vaccines against Covid-19 donated by Argentina as part of the initiative they promote to contribute to the equitable distribution of doses and reduce the effects of the pandemic, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the South American country.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the entity indicated that the sending of these donations are managed by the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Health of Argentina, a decision that was previously announced in a decree signed by President Alberto Fernández.

“In the context of the appearance of the new Omicron variant, one million doses of AstraZeneca donated by Argentina arrived in the Arab Republic of Egypt today (January 12),” they refer in the text.

The shipment was received at the Cairo International Airport (capital) by Argentine Ambassador Eduardo Varela, and by Egypt’s Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Ashraf Mounir.

Likewise, the Argentine Foreign Ministry clarified that “the Ministry of Health has sufficient stock to make the donation of one million doses without affecting the objectives outlined in the” Strategic Plan for Vaccination. “



Argentina has donated vaccines against Covid-19 to Bolivia, the Philippines, Mozambique, Vietnam, Angola, Kenya, Barbados, and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States.

According to the Argentine Ministry of Health, to date 81,107,352 vaccines have been applied to the population, of which 38,844,737 people have a dose and 33,774,088 have the complete scheme.
