The Institute of Studies for Peace and Development (Indepaz) of Colombia denounced this Thursday another murder of a signatory of the peace agreement in the area of Caloto, Cauca, Colombia.

Through its account on the social network Twitter, Indepaz specified that the deceased was identified as José Reinel Cano Medina and his murder occurred on the Caloto – El Palo road, in conditions that are still unknown.
“José Reinel Cano Medina was a signatory to the peace agreement, who was currently in the reincorporation process. It was part of the Cooperativa Multiactiva de Caloto”, said the entity.

For its part, the Ombudsman’s Office issued an early warning for the Caloto and Corinto municipalities, where it warns about the incursion of armed groups in the localities of these territories, mainly for economic interests and territorial control.
Figures from Indepaz indicate that with the murder of Cano Medina, there are 38 signatories of the peace agreement assassinated this year, and 343 since it was signed in Havana, Cuba, in 2016.
The authorities continue to work on the investigations to clarify who the perpetrators were, what was the cause of the crime and how it occurred.
