Another 600 thousand Russian Sputnik V vaccines against covid-19 arrive in Mexico

Early this Thursday, a shipment arrived in Mexico with 600,000 doses of the Russian vaccine against covid-19, Sputnik V, which were purchased from the company Human Vaccine. The cargo was transported in the flight EK-9919 of Emirates airline. The plane landed at 1:39 a.m. at the “Felipe Ángeles” International Airport (AIFA).
The Ministry of Health reported that on November 17, the arrival of another shipment with 600 thousand doses of vaccines is expected. Sputnik V.

The agency recalled that in February 2021, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) issued authorization for emergency use to the russian vaccinewhich was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
Through a bulletin it was reported that personnel from the National Center for Child and Adolescent Health (Censia), the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) and Biological and Reagent Laboratories participated in the arrival and transfer. of Mexico (Birmex), which will also be responsible for distributing the vaccines to all federal entities.

The Russian doses will be applied during the National Vaccination Campaign against influenza and covid-19 during the 2023-2024 winter season, which is implemented from October 16 and is scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2024.
This agency invites people at higher risk of presenting severe symptoms of the disease to be immunized, which includes: people over 60 years of age, pregnant women, people with comorbidities, as well as health care personnel. In the case of vaccination against seasonal influenza, girls and boys between six and 59 months are also immunized.
