AMLO endorses opening patrimonial information on military engineers

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador requested that the asset information of the military engineers those in charge of the construction of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) so as not to give the opposition reasons for complaint.

In a morning conference at the National Palace, he criticized that the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) speak out for this information to be made known when they oppose revealing their assets.

"So, do not give reason for them to feel like victims and that conservatism has elements to say what a barbarity... the rule of law is not respected, you do not have to give any reason, do not test them at all, do not touch them even with the petal of a rose, just clarify, inform, information is essential, that people know. So let all this information that they are requesting be made known," he said.

Last week the full Supreme Court determined that the Public Function Secretary must deliver the asset declarations of 23 military engineers in charge of the AIFA work.

“The elements of the Army, in their capacity as public servants, are obliged to present declarations of assets and interests, which must be made public,” the Court detailed in a statement.

López Obrador said that it is necessary for the government to move forward denouncing acts of corruption, as well as the arrogance, fancifulness and extravagances of some officials.

And he celebrated that the changes caused by Q4 are being carried out peacefully and therefore, he said, it is necessary to maintain good conditions with actions such as transparency.

"But for the sake of transparency and not to give any reason, my recommendation is that regardless of the protection, because also if they are going to resolve the protection themselves, ah well, since they make everything known, there is no problem," he pointed out.
