Alert issued in Spanish provinces for first heat wave | News
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) announced this Tuesday that various Spanish provinces, including the Canary Islands, Extremadura and Andalusia, are on maximum alert due to rising temperatures.

The entity pointed out that Cádiz, Córdoba, Seville, Jaén, Ciudad Real, Toledo, Badajoz, Madrid and Gran Canaria, in the province of Las Palmas, along with Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, are on orange alert.
The current heat wave began on Sunday and is expected to continue all week, the Spanish body pointed out, adding that on this day in the Canary Islands temperatures exceeded 36 degrees Celsius, while in the valleys of the peninsular southwest they reached maximums of 38 to 40 degrees.
Similarly, the heat put Girona and Lleida at risk, both also with yellow warnings for rain and storms, but the Andalusian provinces of Seville and CĂłrdoba will be the capitals that will reach the highest temperatures, with 42 and 43 degrees Celsius, respectively. .
On June 25, Aemet stated that “we are in an episode of Heat Wave. It is the first of the summer of 2023 and arrives in June. Probably, during its course, it will reach 44 ºC ”.
According to specialized agencies, the month of March 2023 was the second warmest and with the least rain in the entire 21st century, while it represented the third warmest since records began in 1961.
