After transphobic comments, Carlos Santana apologizes to his fans
After a spread video in which he appears doing transphobic commentsthe singer Carlos Santana apologized for what was said, because he assured that he did not want to hurt anyone.
It was through his Facebook account that the singer Carlos Santana faced criticism for what he commented during one of his musical presentations.
"I'm sorry for my insensitive comments," the legendary singer born in Guadalajara, Jalisco began his publication.
The US-based artist noted that his comments "do not reflect that I want to honor and respect the ideals and beliefs of all people."
He added that when he realized that what he said hurt people, he wanted to make it clear that this was not his intention. "I sincerely apologize to the transgender community and with all those I have offended.”
Determined to clean up any trace of transphobia in his speech, Carlos Santana pointed out that "he wants to honor and respect the ideals and beliefs of all people, be they LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift.
So he anticipated that he will pursue this goal to be happy and have fun, “and that everyone believes what they want and continues in their hearts without fear. It takes courage to grow and shine in the light that you are and to be true, genuine and authentic. We grow and learn to shine our light with Love and compliments."
A video recorded during a concert offered at the end of July by Carlos Santanadiscovered the singer giving his opinion on transsexuality.
“When God made you and me, before you came out of the womb, you already know who and what you are. Then when you get older, you see things and you start to believe things that might sound right, but you know they're wrong," the musician said between songs.
But the guitarist went further, stating that there are only two genders: “Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man, that's all. What you want to do in the closet is your business. I agree with that."
But his reflection did not stop there, and he leaned on the comedian's way of thinking Dave Chapelle, who has been marked as transphobic. “That's how I am, like my brother Dave Chapelle,” Carlos Santana said as he clasped his hands during one of his concerts.
The social network user who made the video public explained that he attended the interpreter's recital with his family, where they witnessed what the singer said. He "stopped and spent 15 minutes saying the most shocking anti-trans words I've ever heard."
He stressed that upon hearing Carlos Santana's transphobic comments, he and his companions decided to leave the place. "Luckily my partner caught this on camera."
The musician's comments They come amid a wave of anti-trans legislation in the United States, where several states are promoting actions aimed at limiting gender-affirming medical care for trans youth.
Carlos Santana's followers reacted to his apology in various ways. "Remember also, that you have been followed by people of all religions, cultures, orientations, genders and beliefs," wrote one of them.
One more renounced the idolatry he felt for the artist. “I've been a fan of yours since I was a kid in the 70s, but not anymore after those wrong words. This is not a sincere apology to my community. Actions, not words, will earn that trust back. Could you do it better".
Although there were also words of support for the transphobic comments made by Carlos Santana. “I loved what he said! It's the truth... Thank you Carlos! Keep the faith and stand up for what you believe in and know is right," said a follower.
