A car accident in Arequipa, Peru, left ten dead and nine injured. Among the fatalities were two minors and the driver of the minivan in which they were traveling.

The incident occurred this Tuesday night, around 10:00 p.m. (local time), at kilometer 951 of the Panamericana Sur highway, just before entering a tunnel heading to Camaná.
The passenger vehicle belonging to the company “Caminos del Inca” collided head-on with a dump truck, and due to the violence of the crash, all the passengers were thrown out of the windows.

The injured were immediately transferred to the Majes hospitals and others were transferred to the Honorio Delgado hospital in the city of Arequipa due to the severity of their injuries.
According to preliminary information, about 16 registered people were traveling in the minivan, as it provided a regular transportation service between Arequipa and Camaná, but it is possible that the number of deaths and injuries is higher given that these vehicles usually pick up passengers along the way.
For his part, the driver of the dump truck was taken into police custody and investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident were already being carried out.
