According to the Guardia di Finanza and the Coast Guard, seven boats with 350 migrants were located and transferred to Lampedusa, which has welcomed 2,000 people in recent weeks.

The information issued confirms that on Monday there were 23 landings with 1,007 people, while in the barges rescued last night there were between 45 and 70 Syrian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Ivorian, Senegalese and Liberian migrants.

The Government of Agrigento issued the news of transferring 600 migrants with an Italian Coast Guard ship to the ports of Messina and Reggio Calabria, due to the collapse of the reception centers in Lampedusa.

The European organization Sos Mediterranee, for its part, said that Ocean Viking disembarked on Tuesday the 57 survivors rescued in two operations on July 7.

“After going through traumatic experiences in Libya and at sea, we are pleased that they have reached land safely. Reminder: Sos Mediterranee and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are filling the void left by the European Union (EU) States to save lives.”
