El embajador de Ucrania en Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, pidió este viernes el veto en lo que queda del Abierto de Australia al padre de Novak Djokovic, quien jugará la final el domingo, después de la difusión de un video en que aparecía con aficionados con banderas rusas. }

En declaraciones a la televisión pública australiana ABC, Myroshnychenko dijo que las banderas eran un símbolo de la invasión rusa a Ucrania y pidió que Srdjan Djokovic, padre del jugador, sea vetado del resto del torneo.

Es inaceptable, es una desgracia para el torneo. Se deben imponer sanciones.

Las traducciones realizadas al video que circula en redes, destacan que, tras la foto, el padre de Djokovic dijo “larga vida a los rusos”, pero esta ha sido una asunción que no puede ser completamente fundamentada por el video, cuya calidad se presta a la interpretación.

Myroshnychenko dio por hecho el Srdjan Djokovic apoya la invasión rusa de Ucrania después de que algunos medios australianos lo identificaran en un vídeo donde se le ve posando brevemente con unos simpatizantes rusos, uno de ellos con una camiseta con la Z, símbolo a favor de la guerra, y una bandera con el rostro de Vladímir Putin en Melbourne.

Este supuesto apoyo de Srdjan Djokovic llevó a Myroshnychenko a reclamar una toma de posiciones por parte de su hijo Novak.
