The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported Monday that a magnitude 6.6 earthquake was recorded about 270 kilometers from Antigua and Barbuda.

According to the entity, the earthquake was located 277 kilometers northeast of Codrington, in the area of ​​the island of Barbuda.

For its part, the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that no tsunami warning or danger has been reported.

Similarly, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network (RSPR), a country where the telluric movement was also felt, did not report the possibility of a tsunami in the national territory, nor for the Virgin Islands.

The entity reported that the earthquake occurred at 8:28 p.m. (GMT time), 10 kilometers deep and with greater intensity in Tortola, in the neighboring British Virgin Islands.



So far, the authorities have not reported material damage or casualties in Antigua and Barbuda or in any other territory.
