52 arrested for looting spree in Philadelphia
At least 52 people were arrested yesterday for their participation in a violent wave of looting at luxury stores in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Groups of young people, allegedly coordinated, broke into stores in various parts of the city, filled plastic bags with merchandise and fled.
After which, the authorities filed accusations of robbery and other crimes against about 30 people, three of them are minors.
At least one hundred people participated in the vandalism.
The looting, apparently spontaneous, occurred on Tuesday around midnight in establishments such as Foot Locker, Lululemon, Apple, while 18 liquor stores were robbedaccording to the newspaper San Diego Tribune.

Stores were closed for employee safety and while we assess the damage and losses incurred. We will reopen when it is safe and the damage has been repaired,” the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board stated.
Local media reported that The crimes began in response to charges against a police officer involved in a shooting last month being dropped. However, others claimed that the looting was due to the economic discontent that prevails in the town.
Philadelphia Mayor Sarah Rodriguez condemned the incidents.
Acts of looting and violence are unacceptable and do not represent the values of our city. “We are committed to doing everything necessary to restore order and bring those responsible to justice,” declared the local official.

This had nothing to do with the protests. What we had tonight was a group of opportunistic criminals taking advantage of a situation,” Commissioner John Stanford said at a news conference.
