An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 was felt this Thursday in the San Martín region, in northern Peru, without reports of victims or material damage, reported the Geophysical Institute of that nation (IGP).

According to the IGP, the earthquake was located at a depth of 129 kilometers and 15 kilometers northeast of the city of Saposoa, in the province of Huallaga.

So far, no material damage, injuries or loss of life have been reported.



Likewise, the entity has not reported on the existence or risk of replicas.

The National Institute of Civil Defense recommended that the population remain calm in the face of these events and locate themselves in safe areas.

Peru is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where at least 85 percent of the world's seismic activity is recorded.
