3 pedestrians killed in multiple collision in MARYLAND

Three pedestrians were killed after three separate crashes in a Maryland county Monday night, police said.

Montgomery County Police said the first crash occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. near New Hampshire Avenue and Elton Road in Hillandale, when a Toyota Camry struck an Adelphi man in his 70s, WTOP-FM reported. The driver remained at the scene.

Less than an hour later, a 59-year-old woman was killed while trying to cross the street about eight miles away at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Ferrara Avenue in Wheaton. The driver of the car left without checking the pedestrian, police said. Police are looking for a silver or light blue Volkswagen Passat with damage to the front bumper, grille, side mirror or windshield.

A 32-year-old man from Washington, DC, was killed in another hit-and-run accident after 11 p.m. on the Capital Beltway inner loop before Colesville Road, Maryland State Police said.
